Illinois Entertainer Review

The Entertainer wrote a nice little blurb about us last week:

Technically speaking, Butterfat Mastermind’s Real/Imagined came out in 2004 as a free giveaway to fans at shows, but nearly a decade later, it finally earns a much-deserved proper release. In actuality, the project could’ve very well come during one of the more trippy moments in the late ’60s, owing much to The Beatles’ Revolver or the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Combined with the spacey sounds of the more recent past like The Flaming Lips or Sparklehorse, Real/Imagined ensures a colorful groove from start to finish. (

Album Release!

Real/Imagined to be released July 2nd, 2013.

Recorded in 2004 and never released, this record has been an underground hit in the band’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois ever since.  Finally getting a proper release, this collection of catchy, post-grunge, trip-rock vignettes ranges from raw, three-piece thrashing to ornate brit-pop send-ups.  Blues-fueled guitar licks bubble up underneath Wayne Coyne style vocals.  Singer, songwriter, guitar stylist and multi-instrumentalist Steve Sunner steers the ship through autobiographical waters in search of an island where late 60′s rock and roll will never die.
